A San Francisco development company has bought part of the former Town and Country shopping center in downtown Sunnyvale for $19 million, with plans to put 280 housing units and possibly street-level retail on the site. BRE Properties Inc. announced the purchase of 2.4 acres of land in downtown Sunnyvale in a press release on Aug. 31. The release pointed out that the "transit-oriented" site is one block from the Caltrain station and adjacent to the Sunnyvale Town Center.
