Resurfacing after a year out of the public eye, the Matteson condo development project at 389 El Camino Real, near College Avenue, returns with the release of a draft environmental impact report (DEIR) on Friday, Feb. 17. Of the 26 proposed homes, three would be set aside for the city’s below-market-rate housing program. The public comment period for the DEIR runs from Feb. 17 through Monday, April 2. The Planning Commission expects to hold a hearing and study session on the project on Monday, March 19, in the council chambers at the Civic Center at 701 Laurel St. The meeting starts at 7 p.m. Commissioners previously expressed concerns that the developer, the Matteson Companies, requested 13 waivers on development standards.
